The Tapati Foundation is a small private charitable venture based in India. We draw our inspiration from Dr Tapati Das Gupta, academic, historian and author, but also our most loving, gentle and selfless Tapati, Ma and Didiya. We derive strength and direction from her zest for life and indomitable spirit; her compassion, which always triumphed over all else; and her passion to improve the lives of those not as fortunate as herself. The Foundation aims to support the causes that were closest to her heart.
The Foundation organises and executes its own programmes, partners with other charitable organisations, and provides one-off grants to individuals who are involved in the causes it supports and who meet eligibility criteria. It also provides emergency grants to meet challenges posed by exceptional situations and emergencies.
The Foundation has supported village communities and artisans grappling with the loss of employment and economic hardship. It has also partnered with charitable organisations that work for the betterment of various disadvantaged groups.
The Foundation welcomes applications from organisations who wish to partner with it as well as from individuals who are looking for funding either for social initiatives or for personal that are in keeping with the causes it supports.
